Dr Martens

After Dr Klaus Märtens, a soldier based in Munich, Germany, broke his foot, he designed a unique air-cushioned sole unit to assist with his recovery. With the help of university friend and mechanical engineer, Dr Herbert Funk, Dr Maertens used excess military provisions to produce shoes that would revolutionise the world of footwear. After advertising their innovation globally, they partnered with the Griggs family who had been making boots in Northamptonshire since 1901. And so, on 1st April 1960, the 1460 8-eyelet signature Dr Martens boot was born, complete with signature yellow stitch welt, a grooved sole edge and Airwair Bouncing Soles technology.

Since the cultural and social changes of the 1960s, Dr Martens boots have been internationally recognised for their practicality and style. With a strong focus on individuality, Dr Martens melt seamlessly into any wearer’s wardrobes, regardless of stylistic preferences, and offer both the durability and comfort to be your long-term footwear pick. Today, DM boots remain as culturally relevant as they were in 1960s Britain, and here at The Golden Boot, we continue to love them as much as we did then – for men, ladies and children.
