About Fairfax & Favor: Fairfax & Favor is a Norfolk-based British brand, co-founded in 2013 by Marcus Fairfax Fountaine and Felix Favor Parker. We stock them for their polished country boots, from the riding-style Regina to the waterproof Explorer, with the interchangeable tassels and bags that have made the name so recognisable on the yard and the school run.

Fairfax & Favor fit & sizing tips

  • True to size. Fairfax & Favor boots come up true to size in UK sizing.
  • Leather needs breaking in. The suede and leather uppers soften with wear, so allow a few short wears before a long day in them.
  • Check the calf fit. Tall boots such as the Regina and Explorer come in Narrow, Regular and Sporting calf widths. Sporting gives the fullest leg room; if you are between calf sizes, the brand advises the smaller fit as the leather will give a little with wear.
  • Our take. A smart, country-luxury boot best suited to those wanting something more polished than a traditional wellington for the yard or the school run.

Fairfax & Favor Women’s Boots & Shoes

Fairfax & Favor women’s boots and shoes are sized in UK sizes and come up true to size. Most styles are made in whole sizes, so if you are usually a half size, think about the socks you will wear with them before choosing. For the knee-high boots it is worth measuring the widest part of your calf as well as your foot. We stock from UK 3 (EU 36) to UK 8 (EU 42).

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Fairfax & Favor boots run true to size?

Yes. We find Fairfax & Favor boots come up true to size in UK sizing, which matches the brand’s own guidance. If you are between foot sizes, we would go up rather than down.

Which calf fit should I choose: Narrow, Regular or Sporting?

Measure the widest part of your calf with the socks or breeches you plan to wear. Narrow suits slimmer legs, Regular is the standard fit, and Sporting gives roughly 2–3 cm more room. If you are between calf sizes, Fairfax & Favor advise the smaller fit, as the leather and elastic panels will stretch with wear.

What is the difference between the Regina and the Explorer?

The Regina is the classic knee-high riding boot in suede or leather, best for smart country and town wear. The Explorer is the waterproof, all-terrain option with a Sympatex lining and Vibram sole, better suited to wet yards, dog walks and muddy fields.

Do Fairfax & Favor boots need breaking in?

Leather and suede uppers can feel firm at first, particularly around the ankle and calf. We suggest a few short wears at home before a long day out, and pull the elastic panels gently when zipping tall boots so they settle around your leg.

Are Fairfax & Favor boots waterproof?

Only the Explorer is fully waterproof, with a Sympatex membrane and a reinforced zip line. Regina and other suede or leather styles are not waterproof, though a suede proofer spray will help repel light rain if you treat them before the first wear.

How should I look after Fairfax & Favor suede boots?

Spray new suede boots with a suede and nubuck proofer before you wear them, and reapply regularly. If they get wet, let them dry naturally away from direct heat, then brush off any dirt once dry.
