Ladies Comfortable Shoes

Ladies’ comfortable shoes, as we fit them, are the pairs you can forget about by lunchtime: a cushioned footbed, a secure heel and a toe that does not pinch. That runs from comfy smart shoes for a tidy day to an easier weekend shoe, and to ladies’ comfortable shoes with a heel when the heel stays low enough to walk in. We fit them in UK sizes on Gabriel’s Hill.

What to look for in ladies’ comfort shoes

Under the foot

  • A cushioned footbed that does not collapse after a week
  • A heel low enough that you can walk in it for hours
  • A toe shape with room for the joints, not a pointed last that numbs the toes
  • Leather or a lining that lets the foot breathe on a warm day

Who we fit them for

Gabor is the make we fit most for everyday comfort, with our own Golden Boot shoes, Pikolinos, Josef Seibel and Waldlaufer close behind. Archies have a more contoured footbed, which some people find easier. They are not a medical device. Ladies’ comfortable shoes and sandals belong together in warm weather, so our low-heel sandals are the partner page when you want an open toe.

Fitting tips from our fitters

  • Come later in the day. Feet swell, and a morning fitting can feel snug by evening.
  • Walk the whole shop. Comfort shows up over a few minutes, not in the first step.
  • Measure both feet. We fit the larger one every time.
  • Be honest about the heel. A modest heel can still be comfortable. A high one rarely is, for a full day.
  • Say where it hurts today. We can often move you to another last. We cannot treat a medical foot problem.

Frequently asked questions

What are ladies’ comfort shoes in UK sizes?

Shoes we fit here, in UK sizes, with cushioning and a shape that suits a whole day. People ask us for the most comfortable shoes in the UK. There is no league table. The comfortable pair is the one that fits your foot, and we would rather prove that on the shop floor than on a list.

Do you have comfortable shoes with a heel?

Yes, when the heel is low enough to walk in. Ladies’ comfortable shoes with heels in this collection are modest, not a stiletto. If you need height for an occasion, we will say so if the pair will not last the event. Try it on our hardest floor before you decide.

Are sandals part of this?

In warm weather, yes. Ladies’ comfortable shoes and sandals share the same idea: support, a kind toe and a heel you trust. The sandal page is the better list once you want an open toe. We will fit both if you are kitting out for the year.

Do you have ladies’ comfortable shoes in the sale?

Reduced pairs sit on our women’s shoes sale page and change often. Ladies’ comfortable shoes in the sale are still fitted the same way. A lower ticket does not make a tight shoe a good idea. Ask us what has been reduced this week.

Visit the shop on Gabriel’s Hill in Maidstone and walk a shortlist with us. Workday pairs are on ladies’ shoes for work, and open toes are on low heel sandals for ladies.
