We thought our Agility Peak 4’s, which have bore the brunt of 8 months of trails so far and are still going strong, were a great shoe… but the Agility Peak 5 has been a revelation. All day comfort, great grip, great foot hold, fast when you need them to be, secure when the terrain demands it and all wrapped up in an excellent good looking package!

Having tested the Merrell Agility Peak 5 for a month, for durability and performance, the verdict is out. These are one amazing pair of shoes!
Merrell’s latest trail runners permit sufficient grip on all trails – there truly wasn’t a surface which these shoes could not perform on. I tested them on the treadmill in the gym, on the road and finally on some tricky trails. The trail trial was more robust with runs and walks on longish grass, footpaths, through water and plenty of muddy puddles as photographed! It was on these trail routes that the trainer truly reflects its designed characteristics and comes alive in so many ways - on every surface the shoe easily glided through and after every trail my ankles felt strong.
The Gore-Tex waterproof uppers were true to their promise and my trainers were dry inside for the duration of my run and walk. The mud dried and slipped off when I took them home, making cleaning them a whole lot easier too!
The quality and material of the trainers speak for themselves and I expect they will last me a very long time. Let’s put it this way, in my opinion 500 miles should not be a problem.
In conclusion, the Agility Peak 5 is a great price, with the quality proving the premium you might feel you are paying. This is a shoe worth investing in, if not simply for the support that it provides your body with and the confidence this gives you to run any trail without fear of injury. My advice? Get out and have fun by purchasing a truly durable, well-built shoe which lives up to the Merrell name and can compete with some of the top brands on the market. This is a trail shoe to be reckoned with!
