About Shoe the Bear: Shoe the Bear is a Danish footwear brand, founded in 2007 and known for clean, minimalist Chelsea boots and casual trainers. Much of the range is designed in Denmark and handmade in Portugal. We stock them for customers who want understated Scandinavian style without fuss. Sizes are in EU. Use the insole-length chart on Shoe the Bear’s website: measure both feet and take the longer one, and remember that figure is a little shorter than the insole length they print.
This is Shoe the Bear’s own women’s chart. The centimetre column is the insole length: measure both feet, use the longer one, and their guide says to choose a size about 0.5 cm longer than that foot. Sizes on our site come and go with stock.

This is Shoe the Bear’s own men’s chart, measured on the insole in the same way as the women’s. Take the longer foot and allow about 0.5 cm, because a bare heel-to-toe measurement reads a little short of the insole. Sizes on our site come and go with stock.

A pull-on ankle boot with elastic side panels, a core style across the Shoe the Bear range.
A soft, napped leather used on several styles, which benefits from a protective spray before first wear.
A thicker, more substantial outsole used on many of the brand’s contemporary styles.
We find most Shoe the Bear trainers and casual shoes true to size in EU. Chelsea boot styles, with their pointed toe and higher shaft, can feel snugger at first, so your usual size is the right starting point but worth trying on in the shop.
If you are between sizes, try the next one up, particularly where a pointed Chelsea feels snug. Some Chelsea styles are noted as a little roomy on the brand site, so the specific boot matters more than a single rule. Use their insole-length chart rather than a trainer size.
Chelsea boots from Shoe the Bear tend towards a narrower, more streamlined last, so if you have a wider foot we would usually go up a half size. The suede uppers do soften and stretch a little with wear, but we would not rely on that alone.
Some pairs, particularly stiffer leather Chelsea boots, need a few short wears before they feel fully settled. Softer suede styles are often comfortable from the first outing. Wear them around the house with your usual socks for an hour or two before a full day out.
Suede marks easily, so we recommend a protective spray before the first wear and a soft brush to lift dirt. If they get wet, let them air dry naturally away from direct heat.
Measure heel to toe on both feet and use the longer measurement. Shoe the Bear size charts work from insole length, and your foot will be slightly shorter than that figure, so match that to the insole length on Shoe the Bear’s size chart rather than guessing from a trainer size alone.
