About Alpe: Alpe is a Spanish family shoemaker based in Santa Cruz del Retamar, near Toledo. The company started in 1986 as Creaciones Alpe and still makes its footwear in Spain, from soft natural leathers cut, stitched and moulded by hand. We like them for comfortable fashion boots, heels and everyday leather shoes that feel current without sacrificing wearability.

Alpe fit & sizing tips

  • True to size. Match your foot length in cm to our chart; most people find their usual UK size is right.
  • Leather softens with wear. The leathers Alpe uses are supple but can feel snug for the first few wears before they mould to the foot.
  • Narrower toe box. Some of the dressier heeled styles are cut a little narrower through the toe, so if you have a wider foot it is worth going up half a size.
  • Our take. Alpe is a good shout for a fashion-forward boot or block heel you can wear all day without wishing you had brought flats.

Alpe Women’s Boots & Shoes

Alpe women’s boots and shoes are made in Spain and labelled in EU sizes. They come up true to size on length with an average width, so most of our customers take their usual size. The leathers are soft from the start and mould to the foot after a few wears, but if you have a wider foot or sit between sizes we would go up to the next EU size, particularly in the dressier heeled styles. The chart below shows the UK size printed by Alpe alongside the UK size on our website, and the foot length in cm is the most reliable guide of all.

Glossary

Block heel

A wide, stable heel shape used across much of the Alpe range, giving height without the wobble of a stiletto.

Leather sole

A traditional sole finish on some of Alpe’s dressier styles. It can feel firm at first and benefits from a short break-in before it flexes freely.

Padded footbed

A cushioned insole fitted under the leather lining for extra comfort over a day’s wear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Alpe shoes run true to size?

Yes, in our experience. Alpe sizes by foot length in cm, and most customers find their usual UK size is the right starting point when you use our chart above.

Should I size up if I have wide feet?

Alpe tends towards an average width rather than a generous one. If you have a wider foot or sit between sizes, we would usually go up half a size, especially on the dressier heeled styles with a narrower toe.

Do Alpe boots need breaking in?

A little. The leathers are supple and soften after a few wears, but they should feel snug rather than painful on first try. If they pinch across the toes, a half size up is a better answer than hoping they will stretch.

Why does the UK on the box differ from the website?

Alpe labels in EU sizes, and their UK conversion does not always match the generic EU-to-UK scale we use on the site. Treat the EU size and foot length in cm as the reliable pair, and use our chart to see both UK numbers side by side.

Are Alpe boots comfortable for all-day wear?

That is what we stock them for. Padded footbeds and stable block heels are common across the range, and the boots we carry are the sort you can wear from morning to evening without sore feet.

How should I care for Alpe leather and suede boots?

Brush off dirt after wear, wipe leather with a damp cloth and let boots dry naturally away from radiators. Suede benefits from a soft brush and a protector spray; a neutral cream polish revives tired leather uppers.
