About Boatilus: Boatilus is a Franco-Italian children’s brand. The founders are parents, from a family that has made shoes since 1810, and they brought out biodegradable rain boots in 2008. What we have in stock is the ankle-height Baby Beatly and the taller Nautic welly. Both are light, waterproof and recyclable, with a non-slip sole. The Baby Beatly is made in their soft Boatigum material and has a lemon scent.
We stock Boatilus from EU 19 (UK 3) up to EU 27 (UK 9). The table below is for the single EU sizes. EU 19 to EU 23 are the Baby Beatly ankle welly, and the foot lengths are from that chart. EU 24, EU 25 and EU 27 are the taller Nautic, so those three rows use the Nautic chart. EU 21 is stocked in both, and the row follows Baby Beatly. See the note under the table for the paired Baby Beatly sizes EU 24/25 and EU 26/27, which our site lists separately and which are not in this table.
From EU 24 upwards the Baby Beatly is sold as a pair of EU numbers, so those sizes do not sit in the table. EU 24/25 is UK 7.5 on the box, with an inside length of 15 cm, for a foot of 14–14.6 cm. EU 26/27 is UK 9 on the box, inside length 16.1 cm, for a foot of 15.1–15.7 cm. The old pink Baby Beatly (36B) is only made in EU 24/25.
UK 9 in the table is not this pair. That row is Nautic EU 27, a single size, for a foot up to 16.6 cm. The Baby Beatly marked UK 9 is the EU 26/27 pair, for a shorter foot.
Looking after them
Rinse mud off under the tap and wipe them over. Leave them to dry away from a radiator. High heat can soften this sort of welly and pull it out of shape.
Boatilus’s soft Italian material for the Baby Beatly and their sandals. It is made to be recyclable, and the lemon scent is a food-grade lemon-zest essence mixed into the material.
The ankle-height welly. Single EU sizes up to EU 23, then paired sizes (24/25, 26/27 and so on).
The taller welly. Single EU sizes, and a different last from the Baby Beatly, so the UK number on the box often differs too.
Put a piece of paper against a wall, stand your child with the heel touching the wall, and mark the longest toe. Measure both feet and use the longer one. Compare that number with the foot range for the style you want. Do not add a centimetre for growth on top of the chart. If the measurement falls between two ranges, take the longer size.
Our site converts EU to a standard UK size. Boatilus prints its own UK size, and it is not the same on every style. The one to watch in this table is EU 23: we show UK 6.5, and the Baby Beatly box says UK 6. On the Nautic, EU 21 is UK 4.5 on the box, while we show UK 5.
They are Baby Beatly sizes. EU 24/25 fits a foot of 14–14.6 cm and is UK 7.5 on the box. EU 26/27 fits a foot of 15.1–15.7 cm and is UK 9 on the box. They are real sizes. They are missing from the table because our website stores them as a pair of numbers rather than as “UK x EU y”.
Not always. Nautic EU 21 is for a foot of 12.2–12.8 cm and is marked UK 4.5. Baby Beatly EU 21 is for a foot of 12–12.6 cm and is marked UK 5. Check the chart for the style you are buying.
The Baby Beatly and Nautic we stock are waterproof rain boots, not the lined winter styles (the brand’s Seals and Penguy are the warm ones, and we do not have those in at the moment). They are the right boot for puddles and wet walks. For proper cold, look at a lined welly.
