About Hicks & Brown: Hicks & Brown is a family hat brand from Suffolk, started in 2014 by sisters Alice and Rosie. The name comes from Hicks Farm, their family home. We stock the Suffolk fedora, finished with a feather, and the Felsham tweed baker boy. Sizes are XS, M, L and XL.
The sizes below are head measurements, not clothes sizes. Head (cm) is the band from the Hicks & Brown measuring guide. Fedora (cm) and the inch measure are the Suffolk fedora size itself. We have XS, M, L and XL in stock.

Looking after a wool felt hat
Wool felt copes with a shower. If it gets wet, shake off the water and let it dry slowly indoors, away from a radiator or direct sun. Heat will pull the shape out of it. Dust comes off with a lint roller. Let mud dry before you brush it. Store the hat so nothing is sitting on the brim, or in a hat box if you have one.
Hicks & Brown’s fedora, in wool felt or straw depending on the colourway, with a feather in the band. The styles we stock are the gamebird, pheasant and bronze finishes.
Pressed wool fibres. It holds a fedora crown, shrugs off a light shower, and softens a little with wear.
A small insert for the inside band. Hicks & Brown suggest one if you sized up and want the hat closer to your head.
Run a tape around your head about 1 cm above the ears and across the mid-forehead, where the hat will sit. Hold it level and snug. Match the centimetres to the table. If you are in the shop, ask us to measure you.
Take the next size up. A hat resizer in the back of the band tightens a slightly roomy fit. Hicks & Brown recommend that rather than squeezing into the smaller hat.
XS is 53–54 cm, M is 57–58 cm, L is 59–60 cm and XL is 61–62 cm. The Suffolk fedora is also given as a single size: 53, 57, 59 or 61 cm. The Felsham baker boy XS is 54–55 cm.
Yes for a shower. Wool felt is water resistant, not a wet-weather hat. Dry it slowly, away from direct heat, if it does get wet.
Yes, against a proper head measurement. Do not assume your usual clothes size. A fedora and a baker boy can differ at XS, so use the band for the hat you are buying.
