Characterful dress shoes & boots

About Jeffery-West: Mark Jeffery and Guy West founded Jeffery-West in Northampton in 1987, and the brand has been turning out characterful men’s shoes and boots with a bit of swagger ever since. Their Goodyear-welted range is made in England; many other styles use Blake stitching or cemented soles from European factories. Expect Italian leathers, bold broguing and the signature red lining throughout.

Jeffery-West fit & sizing tips

  • True to size, English fit. Jeffery-West shoes are made on English lasts and generally fit true to size for a medium foot.
  • Fit varies by last. Jeffery-West names each last (Moon, Dexter, Lynott and others), and sizing advice on the product page is worth reading. Generous lasts may suit a half size down; pointed styles can feel closer.
  • Leather soles need a short break-in. As with any leather-soled shoe, allow a few short wears before a full day out.
  • Our take. A distinctly British brand known for quirky, characterful detailing rather than conventional classic styling.

Jeffery-West Men’s Shoes

Jeffery-West men’s shoes and boots are sized in UK sizes and generally come up true to size, though the fit varies a little from last to last. The pointed and chisel-toe styles have extra length beyond the toes, so stick with your usual size rather than sizing down. We stock from UK 6 (EU 39) to UK 12 (EU 47).

Glossary

Gibson

A derby-style shoe with open lacing, where the eyelet tabs sit on top of the vamp. Jeffery-West Gibson models such as the Moon and Renfield use this construction, which gives a little more adjustment than a closed-lace Oxford.

Goodyear welt

A traditional construction stitching the upper, insole and outsole via a welt, allowing the sole to be resoled over time.

Sculpted heel

A distinctive, shaped heel block seen on several Jeffery-West styles, part of the brand’s signature look.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Jeffery-West shoes run true to size?

Most styles are true to UK size on a medium foot, but fit varies quite a bit by last. We always check the product page for fit advice before ordering, especially on pointed toe shapes or the more generous Dexter and Lynott lasts.

Should I size up or down in Jeffery-West shoes?

It depends on the last. Generous lasts such as Dexter and Lynott often suit a half size down, while some pointed styles like the Filmstar can feel half a size small. If you are between sizes, we would always try them on in the shop if you can.

Are Jeffery-West shoes suitable for wide feet?

Many Jeffery-West lasts are quite sculpted and suit a medium to narrower foot. Open-lacing Gibson styles give a bit more adjustment than a plain Oxford, but if you have a wide foot or high instep we would try them on before buying.

Do Jeffery-West leather soles need breaking in?

Yes, on leather-soled styles. A few short wears around the house before a full day out lets the sole flex and the upper settle. Rubber-soled or Blake-stitched casual styles often feel comfortable sooner.

What is the difference between Goodyear welted and Blake stitched Jeffery-West?

The Goodyear-welted collection is made in Northamptonshire and can be resoled over time. Blake-stitched and cemented styles from their Italian and Spanish lines tend to be sleeker and lighter, though sizing can differ from the English-made range.

How do I care for Jeffery-West leather shoes?

We use a good cream polish on the uppers and a horsehair brush to keep the leather supple. With leather soles, avoid soaking them and let them dry naturally between wears, ideally with shoe trees in.
