About Pantherella: Pantherella have been knitting socks in England since 1937, and they still make them here. We stock men’s styles: the Danvers cotton lisle, plus the Selsey and the Stride invisible sock. They come in Medium and Large, matched to your UK shoe size. The knit is fine, so they sit neatly in a dress shoe instead of adding bulk.
Every Pantherella sock we have is men’s, in Medium or Large. That includes the Danvers rib, the Selsey and the Stride invisible sock. The UK and EU columns are Pantherella’s standard stretch-sock chart, not a shoe we sell.
| Size (site) | UK shoe | EU shoe | Shop |
|---|---|---|---|
| Large | 10–12 | 45–47 | |
| Medium | 7.5–9.5 | 41–44 |
Pantherella’s name for a fine, twice-mercerised cotton yarn, also called cotton lisle. It is what gives the Danvers its smooth finish.
Cotton treated so it is stronger and takes colour more evenly. It is the yarn through their dress socks.
A flat toe seam, linked rather than bulky, so it does not press inside a fitted shoe. Pantherella call the Danvers toe seamless for the same reason.
By your UK shoe size. Medium covers UK 7.5 to 9.5 (EU 41–44). Large covers UK 10 to 12 (EU 45–47). Pick the one your size sits in.
They follow the shoe-size band. The knit is fine and close, so they can feel snug until they have been worn, especially just after washing. Stay on the chart: a UK 9.5 is still a Medium, and a UK 10 is a Large.
A fine mercerised cotton. Fil d’Ecosse is Pantherella’s name for the twice-mercerised yarn in socks such as the Danvers. It stays slim in the shoe.
Yes. That is what the Danvers is for: a fine rib that does not bunch under a loafer or an oxford, with a flat toe seam.
Turn the cotton lisle socks inside out and wash at 40°C on a gentle cycle. We line dry them. Heat from a tumble dryer shortens the life of the elastic.
