About Redback: Redback are Australian work boots, sized on a UK last. What we stock is the Bobcat soft toe, an elastic-sided pull-on. Their UK shop says to order your normal UK size. The boots are cut generously so there is room for a thick work sock, and a half size adds about 5 mm of width without adding length. The UK number on our site matches the UK size in the boot. From UK 9.5 upwards, the Euro size Redback print is smaller than the EU size we show beside it.
Both boots we have in are the soft-toe Bobcat, in iron bark (UBIB) and claret brown (UBOK), from UK 7 to UK 12. The UK size is the one in the boot, so the box UK column matches our site. The centimetre column is Redback’s foot length for that UK size, and you will see the half sizes share a length with the whole size below them. Up to UK 9 the Euro size agrees with ours. From UK 9.5, use the UK size rather than the EU number on the website.
Leather
The Bobcat upper is full-grain leather. Wipe mud off once it is dry, and let the boots air away from a radiator. Redback cut them for a thick sock, so a thin sock can make the same size feel roomy.
They are a generous G fitting, shaped for a thick work sock, and Redback still say to order your normal UK size. If you want more width rather than more length, take the half size.
No. On their UK chart a half size adds about 5 mm of width and no length. UK 10 and UK 10.5 are both 290 mm long.
Go by UK. It matches the size in the boot through the range we stock. Redback’s own Euro size matches our EU up to UK 9, then sits about a size smaller than the EU we show.
In Australia. The sizing they use is UK.
For a work boot such as the Bobcat, Redback say to take the larger size. Try them on in your work socks, and use the finger-behind-the-heel check.
