It depends on the style. Trainers, deck shoes and children’s pairs usually fit true to size, but the classic 6-inch boot and other chunky styles often feel about a half size large. We would measure your foot in cm and try them on with the socks you plan to wear.
Many customers do. The Premium 6-Inch is cut roomy for thicker boot socks, so if you wear ordinary socks or have a narrower foot, a half size down often gives a better fit. If you want extra room for wool socks in winter, your usual size may suit you better.
Most pairs need a few days of short wears before they feel comfortable for a full day. The leather or nubuck upper and padded collar soften gradually, so we would start with an hour or two around the house rather than a long walk straight away.
The classic 6-inch Premium boot uses waterproof leather or nubuck with seam-sealed construction, which keeps feet dry in rain and wet pavements under normal use. They are not waders, but for everyday British weather they are genuinely waterproof rather than merely water-resistant.
The classic boot tends towards a medium to slightly wide fit, which suits many feet without needing a wide option. If you have a very wide forefoot, try your usual size first with a thicker sock, or look at styles offered in a wide width if available.
Brush off dried mud, wipe with a damp cloth and let them air dry naturally away from direct heat. A nubuck or leather protector before the first wear helps water bead off, and an occasional conditioner keeps the upper from drying out and cracking.
