Sustainability
A Conscious Choice
Here at the Golden Boot, we are committed to limiting our impact on the environment, whilst working with ethical, global brands to bring you the vast and diverse range we are renowned for. We aim to deliver exceptional and memorable service alongside our beautifully made, well-fitting, durable and reliable footwear collections. It’s in our DNA to share our passion for shoes. We sell timeless designs that are meant to be worn, loved and cared for – and not thrown out at the end of each season. Limiting the number of shoes you need to buy is just one of the ways we are continually improving our sustainability efforts and reducing our environmental impact for future generations.
World Earth Day
Since our beginning in 1790, we have prided ourselves on the long-lasting nature of our products. Despite growing over the years to include accessories, luggage and clothing, our environmental ethos has remained as steadfast as ever – product longevity before anything else...

Our Products
We are increasingly welcoming products to our collection which are chosen with sustainability in mind. For example, relatively new to our line-up is the revolutionary sustainable slippers by Mercredy. Crafted in Spain, Mercredy works with an innovative production process in which recovered plastic bottles are ground into fibres, cleaned, spun into yarn and woven into a fabric. Each pair of slippers is made from at least 2 recovered bottles. We are also proud to stock a fantastic range of Vegan Dr Martens, lacking leather and other animal products, but uncompromisingly durable and iconic.
At the Golden Boot, we have always prided ourselves on our well-considered collections. By personally curating our seasonal ranges, we ensure our product selection is unique and exclusive to us and ensures we do not over-buy stock. For this reason, we particularly love the Made-To-Order service by luxury Australian brand, R. M. Williams. Not only does this allow a unique product to be made according to your specific requirements, but it also limits the amount of stock that needs to be held by stockists or suppliers at any one time, and ensures products are only made to meet demand.
R. M. Williams is just one of the trusted companies we have formed a close working relationship with over the years who is committed to sustainability. Creating premium products that are made to last for years helps to reduce unnecessary waste and reliance on fast fashion. R. M. Williams also offers exclusive repairs to restore your boots to their former glory, completed by local craftspeople and repairers in the community, meaning your boots can keep you going for even longer.
We have also formed strong relationships with other socially responsible brands, such as Toni Pons which has transparent and honest manufacturing processes. A commitment to localising its design and manufacturing processes to Spain (and not outsourcing to other countries) as well as using high-quality, natural materials and recyclable packaging are exactly the type of values we hope we emulate ourselves at the Golden Boot.
As well as ethically conscious brands abroad, we have also established strong relationships with many British footwear brands, from the likes of Barker and Loake to Jeffery-West and Barbour. In addition to the premium quality promised by hand-finished products in local British factories, the small carbon footprint this brings with it is of the utmost importance to us as a business. We are also proud to work with small brands like BigJigs to grow alongside them and their business ventures.
We also endeavour to accommodate larger and smaller sizes and a variety of width fittings that are not easily available elsewhere.
Postage and Packaging
In-house, we reuse all presentable cardboard boxes and tissue paper from our deliveries on our website orders. Surplus or unpresentable packaging is recycled. We have also committed to using recyclable cardboard boxes or compostable bags to pack our web orders. To reduce our use of plastics further, all orders are sealed with paper tape. Our store carrier bags are made from certified recycled paper, too.
In-House
Instore, we do all we can to limit our impact on the planet. As well as a systematic recycling process in the back of house, we also offer regular fit checks for our children’s customers to ensure their shoes are too small before they purchase new ones.
As well as directing in-house photoshoots and curating our own marketing resources and famous window displays, we also responsibly source our creative materials – including shop renovation materials – from local or ethical businesses. We also reuse all of our displays and point-of-sale products instore meaning we limit the number of plastic signs we receive from our brands.
