Boot slippers for Ladies

Boot slippers are for indoors: an ankle-high slipper, sometimes called a ladies’ bootie slipper, to keep your feet warm in the house. Some have a hard sole so you can step onto a cold step or into the car. They are not lace-up boot shoes, and they are not a shoe you would walk to work in. We fit them on Gabriel’s Hill.

Choosing boot slippers for women

Hard sole or soft sole

Slipper boots with a hard sole cope with a short step outside, a damp patio or the drive to the car. A soft sole is quieter and kinder on stairs and carpets, and it belongs indoors. Tell us which floor you live on. Nordikas, Shepherd of Sweden, Verbenas and Bedroom Athletics are the names we fit most often for this ankle height.

Warmth without a walking boot

A bootie slipper should hold the heel and cover the ankle, with a lining that feels soft against bare skin. It will not replace a waterproof boot on a wet day in town. If you want leather moccasins rather than an ankle bootie, our leather slippers are the closer match. Holland Cooper and Gabor appear here too when the cut is right.

Fitting tips from our fitters

  • Decide the sole first. A hard sole and a soft sole fit differently once you stand.
  • Try them in the evening. Feet are larger after a day up, which is when you wear slippers.
  • Do not add a size for a sock you will not wear. If you go barefoot at home, fit them that way.
  • Check the ankle opening. It should slip on without a fight, then stay up when you walk.
  • Measure both feet. We fit the larger foot. A slipper has no lace to balance the smaller one.

Frequently asked questions

What are ladies bootie slippers?

An ankle-high slipper, soft enough for the house, covering more of the foot than a mule. They are the style this page is built around. We fit ladies’ slipper boots in UK sizes, and we will check that the opening does not rub the ankle bone.

Do you sell ladies’ slipper boots with a hard sole?

Yes, when they are in. A hard sole is for a quick step outside, not for a walk into town. Ladies’ slipper boots with a hard sole in the sale appear on our slippers sale page when a pair has been reduced. Ask us what is in this week rather than assuming a style is always there.

What are the best boot slippers for ladies?

The better pair is the one that matches how you live, not a single name. Choose a hard sole if you nip outside, and a softer sole if you stay on carpet. We will bring out a few and let your feet decide. There is no one boot slipper that suits every house.

Can I wear boot slippers for women outdoors?

Only for a moment, and only in a hard-soled pair. Rain, a long pavement or a commute needs a proper shoe or boot. For a leather house shoe with a mule or moccasin shape, see our leather slippers instead.

Pop in to see us on Gabriel’s Hill in Maidstone and try a hard sole beside a soft one. Leather mules and moccasins are on our leather slippers for women page, and outdoor lace-ups are with boot shoes for women.
