Leather slippers are a house shoe in leather: a moccasin, a mule or a simple slip-on, not an ankle-high bootie. Soft leather slippers mould a little as you wear them, and many have a sole firm enough to take the bin out. We fit ladies’ leather slippers on Gabriel’s Hill in Maidstone, including black when that is the shade you want at home.
Nordikas account for much of the leather we see in this collection, with Shepherd of Sweden close behind. Holland Cooper, Gabor, Birkenstock and Barbour appear in smaller numbers. We will not call one make the best leather slippers for women. The right pair is the leather and the sole you will actually live in, fitted to the larger foot.
The Shepherd of Sweden size and fit guide sets out how that last compares. Our shoe care pages cover leather that lives indoors.
The slippers we put on this page are leather, which is what people mean by genuine leather slippers for women. If a style is lined or trimmed in another material, we will say so before you buy. Ask to see the insole and the upper together.
Black is one of the shades we usually hold, along with brown, blue and taupe. Stock moves, so we would rather show you what is in the shop than promise a colour on the page. If black is essential, ring us or call in.
A firmer sole will take a short, dry step outside, the bin or the car. They are not a wet-weather shoe. For an ankle-high slipper with a hard sole, look at boot slippers for ladies. Leather slippers for women in the sale sit with our other ladies’ slippers when we reduce a pair.
Let them dry at room temperature, away from direct heat, and use a little leather conditioner if the upper looks thirsty. We keep shoe care in the shop and can match it to the leather. A slipper that lives on a radiator will crack long before the sole wears out.
Call in at Gabriel’s Hill in Maidstone and we will fit the leather against the sole you need at home. Ankle-high styles are on boot slippers for ladies.
