Wedding Shoes For Girls

Flower girl shoes have to look part of the wedding and still let her walk, stand and, very likely, run. We fit comfortable wedding shoes for girls in white, ivory, pink, silver and other colours families ask for. What we can show you depends on her size on the day.

Younger girls are usually happier in a flat. Low heel wedding shoes for girls are a question for an older child who already walks steadily in a little height, and only when we have a stable pair in stock.

Choosing flower girl shoes

What to look for

  • A fastening she cannot slip out of halfway up the aisle
  • A sole with some grip if the photographs move onto grass
  • A colour that matches the brief you were given, not an adult dye lot
  • Leather or a trim that will not rub a bare ankle

Flats, and the occasional low heel

Bobux, Start-Rite, Ricosta, Clarks, Geox and Primigi cover most of the flats we fit, and Lelli Kelly is the name families often want for a party shoe. A low heel, if we have one, needs a broad base and a strap. We will not put a first heel on a child who has never worn one, however well it matches the bride.

Fitting tips from our fitters

  • Measure both feet. The larger foot sets the size. Flower girls are as uneven as any other child.
  • Keep spare length modest. A strap or lace shoe can take about a fitter’s thumb past the longest toe. More than that and she will shuffle. A slip-on gets no extra growing room.
  • Fit the socks or tights for the day. Bare feet in the shop, tights at the wedding, and the shoe is suddenly tight.
  • Walk and turn. A heel that looks steady at a standstill can twist when she turns for a photograph.
  • Try the colour in daylight. Ivory, cream and white are not the same. Bring a ribbon or a photo of the dress.

Lelli Kelly we fit

Lelli Kelly is a party shoe we fit when the size is there. For a younger foot, Bobux and Primigi are often the better shape. Read the Lelli Kelly size and fit guide and the Primigi size and fit guide before you come, and treat both as homework rather than a size to order unseen.

Frequently asked questions

What shoes work for a flower girl?

A secure flat in the colour the couple asked for, light enough that she forgets it, and fitted close to the wedding so she has not already outgrown it. Mary Janes, a neat strap shoe, or a simple sandal in the right season all work. If the day is on grass, ask us about the sole before you fall for a smooth leather bottom.

Do you have low heel wedding shoes for girls?

Sometimes, for an older girl, and we will not pretend they are always in. Any heel we suggest has to be low and stable, and she has to walk the shop in it without grabbing an arm. Younger flower girls stay in a flat. If you want a metallic finish, our gold sandals for girls and white sandals for girls are worth seeing too.

How do you keep wedding shoes for girls comfortable?

Comfortable wedding shoes for girls are comfortable at the fitting. There is rarely time to wear a children’s pair in, and a tight shoe does not become a kind one by the Saturday. We look at the heel, the straps and the toe shape, then we watch her walk. Blisters are a fit problem, not a price she should pay for the photographs.

Should her shoes match the bride?

Match the colour story you were given, not an adult heel height. Ivory next to a bright white shoe can look accidental. Bring a swatch if you have one. We can look at bags and accessories for the grown-ups on other pages, but her shoe is fitted as a child’s shoe first.

Come to Gabriel’s Hill in Maidstone with a picture of the outfit and the tights she will wear. We will measure both feet and be honest if the colour you want is not in her size. Page boys are next door, in our wedding shoes for boys.
