Wedding Shoes For Boys

Page boy wedding shoes have to survive a long day, a hard floor and, quite often, grass. We fit comfortable wedding shoes for boys in leather that looks formal and still bends. Black is the colour we see most, then blue, with tan when the wedding is more relaxed.

Bring the dress code, or a photograph of the outfit. Toddler smart shoes for a wedding are a different job from a teen boy in a lace-up, and we fit them that way.

Choosing page boy and formal shoes

What to look for

  • A leather upper in a colour the couple have actually asked for
  • A sole with a little grip if the day moves outside
  • A fastening a small child cannot kick off in the front pew
  • Enough softness that he does not need weeks of wearing in

Toddlers and older boys

Toddler formal shoes need a strap more often than a lace. Bobux and Start-Rite do that job well, and Ricosta and Clarks cover many of the older page boys. Geox and Primigi can look right when the invitation is smart rather than strict. Boys formal shoes that are really trainers belong only at a wedding that has said so. We will tell you if a pair is too casual.

Fitting tips from our fitters

  • Measure both feet. Fit to the larger one. A page boy who is limping in the photographs is a fitting we got wrong.
  • Keep growing room modest. On a strap or lace shoe, about a fitter’s thumb past the longest toe, and no more, or he will shuffle up the aisle. Slip-ons do not get that spare length.
  • Fit the socks he will wear on the day. Thick wool and a thin cotton sock are different shoes.
  • Walk him on a hard floor. Heel slip shows up in ten paces. A brand new stiff sole is a blister waiting for the speeches.
  • Check the venue. Grass, gravel and a polished floor punish a leather sole. Ask us about the tread before you decide.

Clarks we fit

Clarks and Bobux cover a lot of smart boys’ fittings in this shop. Read the Clarks size and fit guide and the Bobux size and fit guide if you want a chart first. Primigi and Geox guides are there too if those brands are the brief. The chart will not know the dress code.

Frequently asked questions

What are comfortable wedding shoes for boys?

A shoe that is comfortable at the fitting, not one you hope will soften. Look for a flexible sole, a heel that stays put, and leather that does not crease straight into the ankle. He may be on his feet for hours. We would rather a plain shoe he forgets he is wearing than a stiff one that matches a photograph and hurts by lunch.

What toddler smart shoes work for a wedding?

A secure strap, a rounded toe, and a sole he can walk in on the day you buy them. Toddler formal shoes should still look like part of the party. They do not need to copy an adult Oxford. If he is still in first shoes, say so, and we will keep the sole light. See our Bobux size and fit guide for the younger sizes.

Do page boys have to wear black?

Only if the couple said black. Page boy wedding shoes are often black or a dark blue, and tan turns up for a relaxed summer wedding. Bring a fabric swatch or a photo. We will not guess the colour from the word “formal” alone, and we will say if we do not have it in his size.

Can older boys wear the same shoes as school?

Sometimes a well-kept school shoe is already formal enough, and sometimes the wedding asks for something newer. Have a look at brown school shoes for boys if brown is the brief, and at popular shoes for teen boys if he has strong opinions. The fit is the part we will not compromise.

Come to Gabriel’s Hill in Maidstone with the invitation notes and the socks for the day. We will measure both feet and fit boys formal shoes that he can walk in. Flower girls are fitted separately, in our wedding shoes for girls.
