Kickers Shoes for School

Kickers shoes for school, in the black styles we keep for uniform days, are a familiar choice for boys and girls who want a sturdy shoe with a name they already know. The size is settled on the foot in our Maidstone shop, not from the number inside an old pair.

Girls who want the girls’ range on its own can go to Kickers school shoes for girls, and a boot is a separate question. Here we fit the black Kickers school shoes, lace or strap, to the larger foot.

Choosing Kickers shoes for school

Boys and girls, in black

The Kickers we group here are black. Some are leather and some are not, so ask about the pair you are holding. A Kickers school shoe for a girl may be a bar or a lace-up. Boys are more often in a lace-up. Both still have to match the uniform line you were given, which we will read with you.

Fit before the logo

  • Both feet measured, then the shoe set to the larger one
  • A fitter’s thumb of room on a lace or a strap
  • A closer fit on a slip-on, or it loosens further as it wears
  • School socks, or tights for girls, in the fitting

Fitting tips from our fitters

  • Treat last year’s Kickers size as a rumour. We measure both feet again. Growth over a summer is enough to change it.
  • Wear them indoors before term. A few evenings at home lets the foot meet a firmer shoe after sandals.
  • A stiff heel can be softened here. Firmer leather eases with wear. Come back if it is still hard after those first walks.
  • Undo the fastening. Laces and buckles last the year if the shoes are taken off properly.
  • Check the school rule for boots. A Kickers shoe and a Kickers boot are different permissions. See the boots page only if a boot is allowed.

Frequently asked questions

What Kickers school shoes size should I buy?

A Kickers school shoes size from a chart, or from a previous pair, is only a starting point. We measure both feet on the day and fit the larger one, with about a thumb of growing room on a lace-up or a strap. Tell us the UK size they wear now and we will still measure.

Do you fit Kickers for girls and boys?

Yes. This page covers both. Kickers school shoes for a girl have their own collection if you want to look there first, and boys are fitted here in the same black styles. Older boys can sit in the men’s department, older girls in the ladies’ department, once the sizes head that way.

Are Kickers school shoes leather?

Some are. The label and our fitters will say which, pair by pair. If your school has written “leather”, we will keep to pairs that meet that word. A coated upper can look the part and still fail the rule.

How do Kickers compare with other school shoes?

They are a sturdy, recognisable school shoe, and the fitting rules are the same as for any other brand we keep. Clarks, Start-Rite and the rest are fitted to the foot, not to the badge. If Kickers is simply the shoe they will agree to wear, and the school allows it, that is a good enough reason.

A Kickers size is settled on the foot, at the shop on Gabriel’s Hill in Maidstone. Bring the socks they wear for school and we will measure both feet. Boots, if the list allows them, are on our Kickers boots for school page.
