Leather Slippers for Women

Leather slippers are a house shoe in leather: a moccasin, a mule or a simple slip-on, not an ankle-high bootie. Soft leather slippers mould a little as you wear them, and many have a sole firm enough to take the bin out. We fit ladies’ leather slippers on Gabriel’s Hill in Maidstone, including black when that is the shade you want at home.

What to look for in soft leather slippers

Leather, not a lined bootie

  • Genuine leather slippers for women, soft enough to flex across the toes
  • A mule, moccasin or slip-on, rather than a fleece ankle
  • A sole you trust for the kitchen and a short step outside
  • Black leather slippers for women if you want a plain house shoe

Makes we fit

Nordikas account for much of the leather we see in this collection, with Shepherd of Sweden close behind. Holland Cooper, Gabor, Birkenstock and Barbour appear in smaller numbers. We will not call one make the best leather slippers for women. The right pair is the leather and the sole you will actually live in, fitted to the larger foot.

Fitting tips from our fitters

  • Fit them as you wear them. Barefoot and with a thin sock are different sizes.
  • Expect a little give. Soft leather eases. It should not start so tight that your toes curl.
  • Test the sole on our floor. If it twists up in your hand, it will feel thin on a hard kitchen floor.
  • Keep them dry. Do not park wet leather on a radiator. Bring them in and we can talk about care.
  • Measure both feet. Slip-ons have nothing to tighten, so the larger foot decides the size.

Frequently asked questions

Are these genuine leather?

The slippers we put on this page are leather, which is what people mean by genuine leather slippers for women. If a style is lined or trimmed in another material, we will say so before you buy. Ask to see the insole and the upper together.

Do you have black leather slippers for women?

Black is one of the shades we usually hold, along with brown, blue and taupe. Stock moves, so we would rather show you what is in the shop than promise a colour on the page. If black is essential, ring us or call in.

Can leather slippers go outside?

A firmer sole will take a short, dry step outside, the bin or the car. They are not a wet-weather shoe. For an ankle-high slipper with a hard sole, look at boot slippers for ladies. Leather slippers for women in the sale sit with our other ladies’ slippers when we reduce a pair.

How do I look after soft leather slippers?

Let them dry at room temperature, away from direct heat, and use a little leather conditioner if the upper looks thirsty. We keep shoe care in the shop and can match it to the leather. A slipper that lives on a radiator will crack long before the sole wears out.

Call in at Gabriel’s Hill in Maidstone and we will fit the leather against the sole you need at home. Ankle-high styles are on boot slippers for ladies.
