Booties for Girls

Comfortable booties for girls cover a useful middle ground, from winter designs to ankle boot styles, with a Chelsea boot for jeans and a lighter boot when the weather turns. We fit Bobux, Ricosta, Primigi, Geox and Start-Rite, and we measure both feet before anyone chooses a colour.

The heel has to stay put. Bring the jeans she wears most, and we will check width as well as length, including girls’ black boots if plain black is what you need.

What to look for in girls’ booties

Winter, ankle and Chelsea boots

Girls’ winter, ankle and Chelsea boots are the three things families usually mean by a bootie. A Chelsea has elastic sides and no lace, so the heel must be snug on the day you buy it. An ankle boot with a zip or a strap can take a little growing room. A lined boot is warmer. We will tell you if the pair in her size is lined or a lighter shoe for milder days.

Width and denim

  • Wide fit booties for girls may be more comfortable on a broader foot. We measure. We do not guess from the pair she wore out.
  • Girls’ Chelsea boots sit cleanly under a straight or slim jean. A very bulky sole stacks the denim, so try the jeans in the shop if you can.
  • Start-Rite is a name we turn to when width matters, and Bobux, Ricosta, Primigi and Geox cover smaller feet and everyday ankles.

Fitting tips from our fitters

  • Measure both feet. Fit the boot to the larger foot, even when the difference looks small.
  • Do not add growing room to a Chelsea or a slip-on. Extra length lets the heel lift. On a lace or an adjustable strap, about a thumb-width past the longest toe is the room we like.
  • Bring her jeans and her usual socks. A thick sock under denim uses up the space you thought she had.
  • Walk, then stand. Elastic-sided boots can feel fine while she is moving and loose once she stops. We watch both.
  • Undo zips and buckles to take them off. Pulling the heel strains the fastening.

Frequently asked questions

Are ankle booties still in style?

Yes, because they are useful, not because of a passing look. They keep the ankle covered, they work with tights and with trousers, and some schools accept a plain black ankle boot. Check the school list before you buy a pair for uniform.

How to wear boots with jeans for girls?

A straight or slim leg that skims the ankle is the easiest match. One small cuff lets the boot show. A large gap between jean and boot is cold and looks unfinished. Bring the jeans she actually wears and we will see how the boot sits under them.

Do you fit wide fit booties for girls?

We measure the width on both feet. A wider fitting may be more comfortable if the foot spreads. Not every brand makes extra width in every size, and Start-Rite is one we check when that matters. If something is painful, a podiatrist is the right person to see. We fit shoes. We do not treat feet.

Which boot is warm enough for winter?

A boot that covers the ankle is warmer than a shoe, and a lined one is warmer still. Heavy rain is a different job. Ask us for a waterproof boot if puddles are the point, and we will not pretend a suede Chelsea will do it.

The shop is on Gabriel’s Hill in Maidstone. Bring the jeans she wears most, and we will fit the boot to the larger foot. Taller styles are on our long boots for girls page.
