Red Boots for Kids

Red boots for kids are a cheerful, hard-wearing boot for girls and boys, from a first wet-weather pair to something sturdier for the playground. True red is a narrow part of the rail. Pink and burgundy often sit nearby, and our fitters can advise on current styles.

Waterproof red boots for kids are the ones we look for in Igor and Cotswold when rain is the point, with Bobux, Ricosta, Primigi and Start-Rite for smaller everyday boots. We will tell you plainly if the pair in front of you is waterproof.

What to look for in red boots for kids

Colour, rain and age

Red boots for kids, girls and boys, only work if the colour in the hand is the colour you came for. A pink boot is not a red one, even when the search puts them together. Burgundy is closer, and still not scarlet. For puddles, ask for a boot made to keep water out. A fashion ankle boot in red leather will mark and wet through.

Toddlers and older children

Red toddler shoes for a boy, and the same styles for a girl, need a light boot he or she can walk in, not a heavy sole that trips a new walker. Older children can take a sturdier boot. We fit the child in front of us. Age on the box is only a clue.

Fitting tips from our fitters

  • Measure both feet. Fit the larger foot. Children in this age group often differ by half a size.
  • Growing room depends on the fastening. On a lace-up or a strap boot, leave about a thumb-width past the longest toe. Do not add that room to a slip-on, or the heel will slip.
  • Wellingtons need a sock, not a cave. Room for a warm sock is right. A large gap rubs the heel and trips them in the wet.
  • Bring the socks they will actually wear. A bare foot in the shop and a thick sock on the school run are two different fittings.
  • Walk on a hard floor. Listen for a heel that lifts, and watch the toes on a downward slope if we have one to try.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have waterproof red boots for kids?

Sometimes, and we will not pretend when we do not. Igor and Cotswold are the names we check for a boot that can stand puddles. Bobux, Ricosta, Primigi and Start-Rite are more often the everyday boot. Ask our fitters on the day, because a red upper is not the same thing as a waterproof one.

Are they for girls and for boys?

Yes. Red is worn by both, and we do not split the fitting by gender when the size and the width match. A boy with a broader foot and a girl with a narrower one simply need different lasts. We measure, then we look at what is in.

Do you fit red toddler shoes for a boy?

We do, when a red pair is in his size. Toddler fittings are slow on purpose. He should be able to walk the shop without catching the sole. If red is out of stock, we would rather show you a sound boot in another colour than force a shade.

What if the boots you have are pink?

Then they are pink, and we will say so. Pink and burgundy are the colours that most often sit next to red in this search. If red is the brief from a party or a club, tell us and we will only offer a boot that meets it.

Come and see us on Gabriel’s Hill in Maidstone. We will measure both feet and tell you which red, burgundy or waterproof boots we can fit today. Our waterproof footwear page is the next place to look for wet weather.
