Travel Slippers For Men

Travel slippers for men have to earn a place in the bag: light enough to pack, and easy to find when you arrive with tired feet. We do not always hold a pair made only for packing.

What we fit are men’s slippers that travel well, from Nordikas, Shepherd of Sweden, Birkenstock and Gardiner Bros. Bring the bag you actually travel with, and we will see what goes in it.

Choosing the best travel slippers for men

What earns a place in the bag

  • Light, and small enough for the bag you really use, not a bag you wish you packed
  • Easy to put on after a late arrival. Laces are a poor idea at that hour
  • A sole you can wipe, fit for a hotel corridor rather than a hillside
  • A little extra ease, because feet swell in the air

Hotel, plane and home

Men’s travel slippers in the UK are often ordinary good slippers that happen to pack, and we will say which is which. A heavy outdoor sole wastes space and is more boot than you need in a hotel. A sole so soft it soils the room is no better. Do not pack your only house pair if you still need them at home the week you are away.

Fitting tips from our fitters

  • Bring the bag. If the slipper does not go in it, it is not a travel slipper for you.
  • Prefer a wipeable sole. Hotel floors and rented carpets are the test, not the garden.
  • Skip the laces. A slip-on or a simple fastening wins after a delayed train or a late flight.
  • Allow for swelling. A slightly easier fit is kinder than a tight one when you land.
  • Keep a pair at home. Travelling in your only slippers leaves you without them on the night you get back.
  • Ask us to be blunt. We will say if a pair is a house slipper that packs, or something sturdier than you need.

Birkenstock

A Birkenstock footbed is one we trust when your feet are tired. Nordikas and Shepherd of Sweden make up more of the collection. See the Birkenstock size and fit guide before you come.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a good travel slipper for men?

It packs into the bag you already use, it goes on without a struggle, and the sole is acceptable in a hotel corridor. Weight matters more than a clever fold if the clever fold is still bulky. The best travel slippers for men are the ones you will actually take, which we can only judge with your bag and your foot in front of us.

Can I wear slippers on a plane or in a hotel?

In a hotel room and along a corridor, a clean slipper with a light sole is the usual idea, and house rules vary, so glance at them. On a plane, cabin crews differ, and a slipper is a comfort for your seat rather than something to walk the aisle in if the crew would rather you wore shoes. We fit the slipper. We cannot speak for every airline.

Do you sell men’s travel slippers in the UK?

We fit men’s slippers in Maidstone that travel well, and we will tell you when a pair is simply a house slipper you could pack. A dedicated travel model is not always on the shelf. Men’s travel slippers in the UK, from us, means that honest conversation, plus Nordikas, Shepherd of Sweden, Birkenstock or Gardiner Bros when those are the pairs that make sense.

Are travel slippers the same as house slippers?

Not quite. A house slipper can be heavier, warmer and happier on a hard doorstep sole. A travel slipper should be lighter and simpler, and it should not be your only pair if someone is still at home. If you also want something for the pavement outside a cottage, look at our boot slippers, which are built around a hard sole.

If you are packing soon, come to Gabriel’s Hill in Maidstone and we will see what goes into your bag. Our men’s holiday shop is there if the rest of the trip still needs shoes.
