Mens Luxury Slippers

Men’s luxury slippers, as we fit them, are well-made slippers you can judge with your hands: the lining, the leather, the sole. The luxury is that making, from houses we know, not a logo borrowed from a fashion label.

Nordikas, Barbour, Shepherd of Sweden, Birkenstock, Pitas and Gardiner Bros are the names on this page. Come and compare two pairs. A dear slipper that rubs is still a poor buy.

What to look for in men’s luxury slippers in the UK

Making, not a logo

  • A lining that feels dense and even, not a thin trim over a hard bed
  • Leather or a properly finished upper that will keep its shape
  • A sole chosen for where they will live: by the bed, or as far as the door
  • A fit we have walked you in. Comfort is the luxury people actually notice

Houses we fit

Shepherd of Sweden is where we start when you want a warmer lining. Barbour, Birkenstock, Pitas, Nordikas and Gardiner Bros feel different in the hand, and we will let you compare them rather than declare a winner. The best men’s luxury slippers are the pair that fits your foot and the life they will have, which is a fitting job, not a ranking.

Fitting tips from our fitters

  • Feel the lining. That, and the leather, is the quality. A word on the box is not.
  • Decide the sole first. Bedside, or doorstep. We will match the sole to that and not to a photograph.
  • Walk the shop. A rub in the first minute does not disappear at home.
  • We fit every size, including a 10. Men’s designer slippers in a size 10 are not a separate range we keep aside.
  • Compare two houses. Shepherd of Sweden and Barbour do not feel the same. Nor do Birkenstock and Pitas.
  • Think about a second pair. If you wear slippers every evening, alternating pairs lets each one dry.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a men’s luxury slipper?

In our shop it means a well-made slipper, in leather or with a serious warm lining, from a house we are happy to fit and to stand behind. It does not mean a fashion logo, and it does not mean a soft mule with a high price and a poor sole. Feel the lining and walk in them. If they rub, they are not luxury for you, whatever they cost.

Do you keep a UK size 10?

We fit the size you measure, and that includes a UK size 10. We do not hold one size back as a special offer, and we do not promise a 10 in every style on every day. Come in, or telephone the shop and ask what we can fit this week. Guessing a 10 from a screen is how expensive slippers get returned.

Are men’s designer slippers the same thing?

People search for men’s designer slippers when they want something better than a supermarket mule. What we sell is not a catwalk label. It is Nordikas, Barbour, Shepherd of Sweden, Birkenstock, Pitas and Gardiner Bros, fitted properly. If a designer logo is the point, we are the wrong shop, and we would rather say so.

Can luxury slippers be worn outside?

Only if the sole is up to it. Some will take the step to the car, and some should stay on the carpet. Tell us which life you have in mind. For a hard sole and regular indoor and outdoor use, our boot slippers are the clearer choice. A fine lining and a soft sole belong by the fire.

Visit us on Gabriel’s Hill in Maidstone and compare the linings in person. A luxury slipper should feel right in the shop. Our boot slippers and travel slippers cover the other two jobs.
