Sustainable Shoes For Girls

The surest way to buy fewer shoes is to fit a pair she will actually wear out, then look after it. We do not badge a shoe as recycled, vegan or sustainable unless that claim is printed on the pair itself. This page is about girls’ shoes we trust for wear and repair.

Bobux, Start-Rite, Geox and, for older girls, Hoka or On Running are brands we fit because they are made to be worn hard. Comfortable sustainable shoes for girls, in our shop, means a fit she will keep wearing.

What to look for if you want fewer pairs

Buy less, wear more

  • A shoe that fits today, with the right growing room, so it is not abandoned after a month
  • Leather or a sturdy textile you can clean, rather than a novelty upper that dies in the rain
  • A sole that can be discussed for repair if the upper is still sound
  • One good pair for school and one for the wet, not a cupboard of unworn shoes

What we will not claim

We will not call the collection vegan, recycled or carbon-neutral. Those words belong on a specific label, and only when the maker has put them there. If a pair in your hand carries that wording, we will read it with you. If it does not, we talk about durability instead. Shoe care, which we keep in the shop, is part of that.

Fitting tips from our fitters

  • Measure both feet. A shoe that is too small is thrown away early. That is the opposite of buying fewer pairs.
  • Growing room on lace and strap shoes only. About a fitter’s thumb past the longest toe. On a slip-on, extra length makes her slide and the shoe fails sooner.
  • Rotate two pairs. Alternate days let leather dry out. One soaked pair worn every day collapses.
  • Ask about repair before you replace. A worn heel or a smooth sole is sometimes worth saving. Bring the shoe in and we will tell you if it is.
  • Use shoe care. A brush, the right cream and a dry cupboard do more than any slogan. See our shoe care pages.

Bobux we fit

Bobux is one of the girls’ brands we fit when we want a shoe that can be worn hard from the early years. The Bobux size and fit guide explains the sizing. It is not a certificate of anything greener than a well-made shoe. Geox and Primigi are fitted the same way. Our Geox size and fit guide is there if you want the chart first.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have sustainable shoes for girls from Nike?

This is not a Nike collection, and we will not treat a logo as a plan for buying better. If she lives in trainers, we can fit Geox, Hoka or On Running when the last is right for her age. We will say if a pair is really an older girl’s shoe. The gain is a trainer she wears out, not a badge.

What about sustainable shoes for girls with a heel?

A heel is an occasion question, and most of what we stand behind here is a flat for everyday wear. For an older girl who needs a little height, look at gold sandals for girls and we will check that she can walk in them. We will not call that heel sustainable.

Are affordable sustainable shoes for girls a real category?

We will not put a price in the copy, because it depends on the shoe. A pair she wears for two terms is often the more affordable choice beside two cheap pairs that collapse. The children’s shoes sale is where reduced pairs sit. Fit her first. The sustainable shoes for girls sale is only useful when the size is right.

What are the best sustainable shoes for girls?

A pair that fits, and that she wears until she outgrows it. Start-Rite, Bobux, Ricosta and Geox are names we fit often for that reason. We still will not dress a shoe up with a claim the label does not make. Bring her in and we will show you what suits the foot.

Visit us on Gabriel’s Hill in Maidstone. We will measure both feet, talk about care, and help you leave with fewer, better pairs rather than a slogan. Our Kickers school shoes for girls are another place to look when the shoe is for uniform.
